Description
1927 Australian Florin issued to commemorate the opening of the Federal Parliament in Canberra. Struck at the Melbourne Mint, this was Australia’s first circulating commemorative coin and remains one of the most iconic pieces of the pre‑decimal series. The reverse features George Kruger Gray’s neoclassical design of Parliament House framed by a wreath and the inscription “PARLIAMENT HOUSE CANBERRA”. The obverse carries the crowned bust of King George V. A popular type coin, especially sought after in higher grades due to its detailed architectural motif.
