At Phoenyx Curios, we specialise in the appraisal and acquisition of coins, banknotes, trading cards, collectibles, memorabilia, and sealed products. Our team provides accurate valuations based on current market trends, condition, authenticity, and overall demand.
All collections begin with an online or phone assessment. This allows us to review your items efficiently and provide guidance regardless of where you are located in Australia. We also maintain an active interstate trade show presence, giving sellers in other states the opportunity to meet us in person.
The process for obtaining a valuation is as follows:
1. Initial Submission:
Begin by sending clear photographs or a detailed list of the items in your collection. Video calls can also be arranged for larger collections or if this is a more convenient option for you.
2. Appraisal:
We will assess your items based on authenticity, condition, rarity, demand, and current market value. Gold and silver items are tested using a Sigma Metalytics Precious Metal Verifier prior to purchase.
3. Purchase Offer:
Following the appraisal, we will provide you with an initial purchase offer for your collection or individual items. This offer is based on the information, photos, descriptions, and condition represented, described, or reasonably assumed during the online assessment.
4. Acceptance of Offer:
If you choose to accept our initial offer, we will proceed to arrange the assessment of your collection. Acceptance confirms that you agree to move forward to the verification stage, where authenticity, condition, and metal composition (where applicable) will be confirmed prior to payment.
5. Assessment of Collection:
The collection will be assessed in person to verify authenticity, condition, and metal composition (where applicable). If you prefer to send items to us via tracked postage, payment will only be made after the assessment is complete. If you require assessment and payment at the same time, an in-person handover is necessary.
If any items return inconclusive Sigma readings or differ from the expected metal profile, our offer may need to be revised.
If any items do not match the condition represented, described, or reasonably assumed during the online assessment, our offer may also need to be revised.
Our initial offer is made on the premise that all items are genuine and in the condition represented, described, or assumed during the online assessment. Any discrepancies identified during in-person assessment will be reflected in the final offer.
6. Payment:
Once the assessment is complete, if you choose to accept the final offer, payment is made via bank transfer for a secure and efficient transaction.
If there is any change between the initial offer and the final assessed offer, and you choose not to proceed, we will safely and securely return all items to you as soon as possible.
For purchases of $5,000 or more, completion of our Purchase Agreement paperwork is a mandatory legal requirement under NSW second‑hand dealer regulations. This documentation ensures full compliance with state legislation and provides a clear record of the transaction for both parties.
In-person inspections or handovers are only arranged after an offer has been made and accepted. For larger collections, in-person collection may be offered at our discretion depending on the confirmed value. Smaller collections are typically handled online, with items sent to us via tracked postage or handed over at trade shows.
If travel is not suitable for your location, we can recommend reputable local businesses or association members who may be able to assist you more conveniently.
